The first trimester can feel overwhelming: your body is doing enormous work that nobody can see yet. Knowing what is normal makes it much easier.
🔹 Weeks 1–6
Many women only discover the pregnancy now. Light cramping, tender breasts and mood swings are common. Start folic acid as soon as you know.
🔹 Weeks 7–10
Nausea usually peaks here. Small tricks that help: eat a dry biscuit before getting out of bed, split food into 6 mini-meals, keep cold water nearby. Extreme fatigue is your body building the placenta — rest is productive.
🔹 Weeks 11–13
Energy slowly returns and nausea fades for most women. Your first major ultrasound usually happens now — one of the most emotional moments of the journey.
🔹 When to call the doctor
Heavy bleeding, severe one-sided pain, fever, or vomiting so persistent you cannot keep liquids down — these always deserve a call, today.
Be gentle with yourself. Growing a human is real work, even when the world cannot see it yet.
